Welcome back to the Fwd: Museums Blog! We're happy to have you back to see what we're up to.
It's week two of the semester, and our team is preparing to begin reviewing submissions. Although the team is familiar with writing and peer editing, we recognize that everyone has different levels of experience with this. Therefore, before starting the reviewing process, we wanted guidance on how to approach the reviewing and copyediting processes with writing pieces. In our submissions, we receive a variety of essays, book reviews, exhibition reviews, poetry, artwork and more! As a peer reviewed journal, we aim to provide effective and useful feedback to our contributors and for this we sought outside help. We invited Professor Claudine Isé to facilitate an editing workshop for us in class. She distinguished the different processes of Editing, Copyediting, and Proofreading, outlining the key points in each process, and gave tips on how to revise grammar. She also provided advice on how to communicate with writers about their work, which is very valuable for any editor. We were very grateful to have such a great resource on campus and we look forward to utilizing the tips she provided!
We also picked our working groups this week as well! We are lucky to have so many members of our team familiar with art and graphic design. With this, we plan to come up with great graphics and merchandise ideas. We also have team members familiar with outreach and social media strategies, which can help us in getting the word out about the new issue of the journal. The team is excited to use our skills and interests for "alien"!
